The newly elected L.C111 councilor for older persons for Bungatira Sub County in Gulu district Patrick Akena alias Noka was found dead in Unyama River.

Akena’s lifeless body was on Thursday found at around 11:00pm in the River while his motorcycle was on the bridge guard.

Benjamin Ocakacon, the vice L.C 111 chairperson Bungatira Sub County says Akena left his residence in Ayach village, Bungatira Sub County for a market day in Patiko Sub County only to be later found dead in the River.

Ocakacon says that Akena’s body was retrieved by police and taken to Gulu regional referral hospital mortuary for a postmortem.

Grace Pande, the officer in charge of crime at Gulu central police station says that their investigations indicate that Akena hit the guard of the bridge with a metal that was behind his bike throwing him off into the River.

Pande says the body will be handed to the family for burial after a postmortem has been done.
