At least two people has died on spot and 6 others sustained injuries in a fatal accident which occurred on the 9th Nov 2023 at around 11PM at Adyel along Kampala road.

According to the North Kyoga Region Police Spokesperson SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, it is alleged that motor vehicle Reg No UAW 395P Fuso fighter driven by yet to be identified person was heading to Lira-City through Cathedral,but on reaching around Adyel near Standard High School, the driver lost control and knocked a Trycycle Reg No UEC 698A red in colour driven by ARON ABURA, 24 yrs old a resident of TETUGU Village in LIRA-CITY West Division.

Okema said ARON sustained injuries, and two other passengers who died on spot were SAM OBUA, 18yrs and KIZITO OKWEE, 23yrs old, both residents of KIROMBE East in Lira-City west Division and other passengers who sustained injuries are:-
DANIEL OKENG, 24 yrs, one identified as OYANGA, 16 yrs, JOSHUA AYO 16yrs, and INNONCENT OBUA 19yrs, all are resident of KIROMBE East in Lira-City West Division And AMBROSE ONGORA 25 yrs old a resident of KULLUHALLI Village in Lira-City West Division.
Okema added that the scene was visited by a team of police officers led by the traffic police.
He said all the victims were rushed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital for treatment, while the deceased bodies taken to the mortuary pending postmortem examination.
Both the motor vehicle and Trycycle were taken to Lira-City CPS pending inspection by the IOV as Investigation is ongoing .
