Under land 36 kilometer from Yumbe in Uganda, an unusually powerful Magnitude 4.9 earthquake occurred in the evening of Monday 13th, November 2023, affecting other nearby countries like South Sudan and Congo-Kinshasa.

The earthquake struck on land in Uganda, 36 kilometer north of Yumbe in the Northern Region of Uganda.
The center of this earthquake had a very shallow depth of 8 km, having a larger impact deep in the earth.
Nearby places at 36 kilometers and others at hundreds of kilometers were affected by the 4.9 magnitude.

The places included; Moyo 56 km from epicenter, Yei in South Sudan, 71 km from epicenter, Adjumani 77 km, Arua 93 km, Juba the capital of South Sudan 124 km, Pajok in South Sudan 139 km, Nebbi 147 km, Paidha 155 km, Gulu 163 km from the epicenter, and Torit in South Sudan at 163 km.


Other places include Kitgum at 192 km from the epicenter, Watsa Congo-Kinshasa 206 km from the epicenter, Masindi 241 km, Lira at 252 km, covering some parts of City East Division, Hoima 262 km, Bunia Congo-Kinshasa 271 km, and Bor, Jonglei state in South Sudan at 271 km from the epicenter.
