On Monday morning, December 25th, 2023, a tragic incident occurred along the Lira-Kamdini road, leaving an unidentified individual dead.

According to SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the North Kyoga Region Police Spokesperson, the victim was allegedly struck by a motorcyclist who then fled the scene.
The victim, who has yet to be identified, was suspected to have been crossing the road at the time of the accident.
The motorcyclist, also unidentified, disappeared with the motorcycle following the collision. The authorities were promptly notified, and the scene was visited by the OC traffic Lira-City West Division.

Subsequently, the deceased’s body was retrieved and transported to Lira Regional Referral Hospital’s mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Despite ongoing inquiries, the suspect remains at large.
Okema said, the tragic incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of road safety and responsible conduct while on the streets.
He has urged anyone with information regarding the incident, leading to the suspect’s arrest to assist the authorities in their investigation.
