Lira City woman MP Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero praised Miss Lango organisers for embracing Lango culture, and called for mass tree planting to combat climate change..
The 2024 edition intends to address climate change, and Dr. Aceng promised to provide the 11 contestants with 100 tree seedlings each to help them achieve their goal and deal with the effects of climate change on society.
She also contributed shs1 million to the organisers, with the aim of promoting tourism and joining forces to combat climate change in Lango and northern Uganda.

On July 21, the Pacific Grand Hotel hosted the 2024 Miss Lango edition, with all of the available seats taken, and Dr. Aceng, who had recently returned from Toronto, Canada, was represented by her technical advisor, Madam Emma Okite, the Dean of Students at Lira University.
