The confirmation of Mpox cases in Oyam District has sparked panic among residents. The outbreak, which has been spreading across Uganda, has now reached Oyam.
As of November 11, 2024, Uganda has 468 confirmed cases of mpox, with one death across 38 Districts. The majority of cases are in the Kampala Metropolitan Area (61%), and working-age adults (19–49 years) are most affected (65%).
Health officials are urging the public to remain calm and follow preventive measures to curb the spread of the virus.
Residents are advised to stay informed through official channels and adhere to health guidelines to protect themselves and their communities.
