Soroti, Uganda – On February 9, 2025, officers from various regions—including Elgon, East Kyoga, North Kyoga, Mt. Moroto, and the Anti-Stock Theft Unit—gathered at Soroti Hotel in Soroti District.
The purpose of the meeting was to address pressing security concerns and to explore ways to enhance collaboration among the officers.
The meeting was chaired by the Inspector General of Police, Abas Byakagaba, who emphasized the importance of discipline within the force. He urged officers to avoid corruption and to uphold human rights in their duties.

During the discussions, a significant focus was placed on the security challenges within the commanders’ respective Areas of Responsibility. There was a strong emphasis on fostering teamwork and boosting the morale of the police force.
Inspector General Byakagaba also highlighted the need to fast-track the implementation of the sub-county Policing model and to support government initiatives under the parish development model.
Attendees included Regional Police Commanders, Division and District Commanders, CID Officers, and Community Liaison Officers. This collaborative meeting marks a significant step towards a more secure and disciplined police force in the region.
