Lira, May 6, 2025 – A somber requiem mass is currently underway at Lira Diocese Cathedral to honor the life and legacy of Colonel (Rtd) Tonny Otoa, a revered retired army officer remembered for his patriotism, discipline, and unwavering service to Uganda and the Lango community.

The body of Col. Otoa was earlier transported from his family home in Boke to the cathedral, accompanied by a convoy of mourners, prayers, and hymns.

The mass, presided over by Rev. Fr. Stephen Odwongo, Curate of Lira Cathederal Parish, Lira Catholic Diocese, has drawn a diverse congregation, including family members, friends, clergy, and dignitaries such as former Lands Minister Daniel Omara Atubo and Speaker LCI Willy Omodo Omodo.
