Kampala, Uganda – May 16, 2025 – The Uganda Electoral Commission (EC) has formally gazetted the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) as a registered political entity, marking a significant development in the country’s political landscape. The announcement, made earlier today, grants the PFF legal recognition to operate as a political party and participate in upcoming electoral processes.
The gazetting follows the PFF’s compliance with the EC’s registration requirements, including the submission of a verified membership list, party constitution, and other necessary documentation. The EC’s decision was published in the national gazette, confirming the PFF’s status as a fully recognized political organization.
“We welcome the People’s Front for Freedom into Uganda’s political arena,” said an EC spokesperson. “The Commission remains committed to ensuring a transparent and inclusive process for all political entities seeking registration.”

The PFF, known for its advocacy of democratic reforms and social justice, has gained attention in recent months for its grassroots mobilization efforts. Party leaders expressed enthusiasm about the registration, viewing it as a milestone in their mission to promote unity and equitable governance.
“This is a victory for the people of Uganda who yearn for change,” said a PFF representative. “We are now poised to engage fully in the democratic process and champion the aspirations of our supporters.”
The registration comes at a time when Uganda’s political environment is gearing up for future elections, with various parties intensifying their campaigns. Analysts suggest that the PFF’s entry could introduce new dynamics, particularly among younger voters and urban populations.
The EC has urged all registered political entities to adhere to electoral laws and maintain peaceful conduct in their activities. With the PFF now officially recognized, attention will turn to its strategies and policy platforms as it seeks to establish a foothold in Uganda’s competitive political scene.
