Lira City, Uganda – Believers have been urged to always be active and fruitful in the house of God.
The call was made by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther Ogwal during his sermon on Sunday May 25, 2025 at Faith Mission of Uganda Chuch, Kwania Road, Lira City West Division.
Speaking under the theme “Being Fruitful in the House of God,” Rev. Ogwal called on believers to remain active, productive, and steadfast in their faith.

Drawing from John 15:16, where Jesus declares, “I am the vine,” Rev. Ogwal emphasized the importance of productivity in the life of a believer. “God is ready to respond to our prayers, but we must be productive and bear lasting fruit,” he said, stressing that true salvation requires firmness and commitment. He explained that the Word of God serves as a pruning tool, refining and strengthening those who are rooted in it.
Quoting Paul’s words to Timothy, Rev. Ogwal reminded the congregation that “God knows His own.” He likened believers to a letter, not written with ink but by the Spirit of God, underscoring the divine authenticity of their faith. He further noted that God tests His people, just as new recruits in the army are tested to prove their capabilities. “If we are Born Again, Jesus is recommending us to the Father,” he said, referencing Colossians 1:10, which calls believers to live a life worthy of the Lord and bear fruit in every good work.

Rev. Ogwal also addressed challenges within the church, pointing out that some members lack vision and are “walking in imagination.” He urged the congregation to work diligently to build the body of Christ and to remain steadfast in the presence of the Lord. Citing Psalm 92:13-14, he highlighted the characteristics of those who dwell in God’s presence, describing them as flourishing and fruitful, even in old age.
The sermon concluded with a passionate call to action: believers must tarry in God’s presence and commit to advancing His kingdom. Rev. Ogwal’s message resonated deeply with the congregation, inspiring them to reflect on their spiritual productivity and dedication to God’s work.
