Adjumani, Uganda – August 28, 2025

The North West Nile Region celebrated a significant milestone today with the official handover of the new Adjumani Police Station building, valued at Sh400 million, located at Karoko Cell, Biyaya Ward, Adjumani Town Council.

The state-of-the-art facility, constructed by Muganywa Construction Limited under the Justice, Law and Order Sector (JLOS) initiative, was formally handed over by Engineer Mugunwa Cons to JLOS authorities and Adjumani Police officers at a ceremony held at 12:00 noon.

The event was graced by prominent figures, including Chief Judge Ojok Tony O., Judge of the 1st Degree HP Okot Michael, Deputy Public Prosecutor Mr. Angumale Simon, North West Nile Police Commander SSP Joseph Mwesige, Adjumani Police Commander SP Herbert Masembe, Ogirasa Bosco Diso, Director of Public Administration Mesiku Harriet, Judicial Engineer Serukwaya Solomon, Technical Supervisor Ojok Tony, Legal Aid Clinic representative Walea Sophie, and management from the Adjumani Police Station.

The new police station, awaiting final commissioning by Police Headquarters, is nearly complete, with minor finishing work ongoing, including the installation of lighting in the youth cells and other small improvements. The facility is designed to enhance the delivery of justice and security services, featuring dedicated cells for youths and female suspects, as well as modern toilet facilities.

In his remarks, SSP Joseph Mwesige expressed deep appreciation to the JLOS authorities for their commitment to improving infrastructure for the police and ensuring justice for the local community. “This new building is a game-changer. It will provide a conducive environment for our officers and includes specialized facilities to better serve the people of Adjumani,” he said.

The handover marks a vital step in strengthening the infrastructure of uniformed services in the region, promising improved service delivery and enhanced community safety. The Adjumani Police Station is set to become a cornerstone of law enforcement in the North West Nile Region, supporting the JLOS mission to promote justice and order.
