MOYO, September 5, 2025 – The North West Nile Regional Field Force Unit, alongside general duty officers, has commenced a five-day public order management (POM) training program, dubbed Ex Mahali Salama Face 1, at Moyo Army Primary School in Moyo District.
The initiative, led by SP Asea Collins, aims to equip police personnel with critical skills to ensure peace and order during the upcoming 2026 presidential, parliamentary, and local council general elections.
The training program, which began today, includes a diverse group of participants comprising regular police, Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) officers, and Field Force Unit (FFU) personnel. The curriculum features rigorous physical exercises such as running, shooting range practice, and specialized training on handling and operating law enforcement equipment. These activities are designed to enhance the officers’ ability to manage public order effectively during high-stakes electoral periods.
SP Asea Collins, North West Nile Region Police Commander, emphasized the importance of the training in preparing officers for the challenges of the 2026 elections. “This exercise is crucial for equipping our officers with the necessary skills to maintain peace and security, ensuring a free and fair electoral process,” he stated.
The training comes in the context of heightened regional focus on stability, as evidenced by recent local government appeals for enhanced infrastructure and services in Moyo District, including electricity and road connectivity, to support socio-economic transformation and regional trade. The Ex Mahali Salama Face 1 program underscores the Uganda Police Force’s commitment to proactive measures for public safety.
Authorities have urged the public to cooperate with security forces as they work to safeguard the democratic process. Further updates on the training and election preparedness efforts will be provided as the program progresses.
