Adjumani, October 21, 2025 – A violent incident rocked Adjumani Town on October 19, 2025, when Muzee Ben, a supporter of Anyama Ben, an independent LC V candidate, was allegedly attacked and robbed by a group of rival supporters. The incident, registered at Adjumani Central Police Station (CPS) under reference ADJSD 37/19/10/2025, occurred at approximately 5:25 PM in the heart of the town.
According to the complainant, Muzee Ben, he was traveling with his colleague, Amadra Patrick, in a vehicle registered as SSD 574 B. The pair had stopped at a boda-boda stage in central Adjumani when a group of supporters of Anyanzo John, another candidate, diverted from their procession along Mission Road and launched an attack. The assailants reportedly pelted Muzee Ben with stones and bricks, forcing him to flee by scaling a nearby fence.
During the assault, Muzee Ben lost personal belongings, including a pair of shoes, a watch valued at approximately 100,000 Ugandan shillings, and cash amounting to 870,000 Ugandan shillings, totaling losses of about 970,000 shillings. The attackers also allegedly caused malicious damage to the motor vehicle.
Muzee Ben promptly reported the incident to Adjumani CPS, where police have opened a case of robbery and malicious damage. Officers from the station visited the scene, and investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits.
SP Asea Collins, the North West Nile Regional Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and urged calm as investigations proceed. “We are actively pursuing leads to ensure justice is served. We appeal to the public to refrain from violence and maintain peace during this election period,” he said.
The attack has heightened tensions in Adjumani as the district prepares for upcoming elections, with residents calling for increased security to prevent further incidents. Authorities have assured the public that measures are being taken to ensure safety and order in the region.
