Obongi, Uganda – Police in Obongi District, West Nile region, have arrested two suspects following the reported theft of a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, highlighting community involvement in combating local crime.

The incident, reported on January 6, 2026, traces back to December 30, 2025, when the motorcycle (registration UFJ 268T) reportedly vanished from its parking spot at a residence in the area.

According to police reports, the owner, Adiga Swaib, had entrusted the bike to his employee, Anyanzo Kennedy, in July 2025 to aid workplace transportation.

On the day of the theft, Kennedy informed the owner that the motorcycle had been stolen from the home of Iranya Emmanuel, where it was parked and where Emmanuel shares lodging with the owner’s brother.Suspicion quickly fell on Emmanuel Iranya.

Under pressure from the local community, he confessed and led residents to Mane Ismail, who admitted to purchasing the motorcycle from Emmanuel for UGX 250,000 (approximately $69). Both men were promptly detained by community members and handed over to authorities.

Police swiftly responded, opening a case file under SD REF: 20/06/01/2026 for motor vehicle theft. Officers visited the crime scene, recorded statements from the complainant and witnesses, and recovered the dismantled motorcycle as evidence.
