The territorial police in Lira-City West Division are investigating suspected murder of a 21yrs old farmer identified as Isaac Orima.
The incident allegedly took place on the 15th Feb 2024 at around 1:30AM from Owiti cell, Amuca ward in Lira-City West Division.
According to the North Kyoga Region police spokesperson SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, It’s alleged that on the 15th Feb 2024 at around 1:30AM, both the suspect ( Morrish Ego 24 yrs old) and the deceased ( Isaac Orima ) were at Amuca trading center where they were spending leisure time, however they picked up a quarrel which resulted into a fight and Morrish Ego hit Orima with a piece of timber, and he collapsed and died instantly.
Okema said a report was registered at the police in Ojwina by Benedict Adile 54 yrs old, and immediately a team of police officers from LIRA CITY WEST DIVISION POLICE STATION led by D/OC CID together with homicide team, SOCO and uniformed personnel proceeded to the scene and confirmed what happened, a sketch map was drawn, statement recorded from relevant witnesses and body of the deceased picked and conveyed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital’s Mortuary pending postmortem.
A case of murder has been registered at Lira-City West Division under CRB 173/2024 against the suspect.
Okema added that the suspect was arrested and already in police custody to support investigation before submitting his file to the RCSA for perusal and legal advice.
This is not the first time the police are registering such a case, and Jimmy Patrick Okema suspects people are very traumatized looking at series of events, and has however, call upon available NGOs, local leadership, clan leaders and religious leaders to interest themselves into the continued cases of murders, as police are committed to seeing that justice prevails.
