Maruzi seed SS passes out 365 student patriots

Over 365 students from Maruzi seed secondary school in Akere division, Apac Municipality were last Friday passed out after undergoing an intensive training on patriotism.

During the pass out ceremony held at Maruzi seed secondary school ground, the Apac resident district commissioner Mr. George Abudul who was the chief guest said the training is part of an initiative that the security committee has thought of to help schools impart discipline amongst learners as well as driving them to develop love for the state and the environment they live in.

He said patriotism is one way of trying to shape a person to being a good citizen and that such a person must liberate him/herself from that prison where he or she thinks one can just live on handouts.

Mr. Abudul however cautioned some teachers and those with bad perception towards patriotism to stop preaching negativity about the program especially those who say the initiative is for President Museveni and NRM party.

Mr. Ojok Julius Akejo the coordinator for patriotism activities in Lango sub region said the 365 students passed out went through many topics, ranging from introduction to patriotism and leadership skills, issues of the environment among others.

He later implored female students to work so hard especially through patriotism to attain a higher level of education in order to have a peaceful family since most men now tend to get attracted to mostly educated women.

The school headteacher Mr. Donald Aquila Oyera recognized the government under President Museveni for the initiative and pledged total support towards patriotism club.

Mr. Aquila however attributes students discipline to patriotism training and lessons currently being done at Maruzi seed secondary school.
